Biography

This Duo is guaranteed to add a touch of intimacy, romance and sophistication to any special occasion; ideally suited to private functions, engagements, birthday/anniversary parties, gallery receptions and weddings.

 

The Duo is the imaginative doubling of the tonally-rich, aesthetically beautiful instrument that is the cello. The cello is a sensuous instrument with a sumptuous tone. It has been featured in several movies including, Truly, Madly, Deeply and Master and Commander.

 

The Duo offers a friendly, personable service, a wide variety of music to suit all tastes, competitive rates and unlike the larger sized string quartet, the Duo fits snugly into most nooks and crannies!

Sharing a love of ensemble music for the cello, Jo and Celine formed the Duo in 2001. As well as providing the music at many weddings, corporate functions and private parties the Duo has given recitals in many churches and halls across London and the rest of England.

 

The Duo has worked closely with the composer Pat Livingstone and gave the premier performance of her composition for two 'cellos "Shifting Sands" in 2003.

 

Between them they have worked with several orchestras including The London Symphony Orchestra, The Opollo Chamber Orchestra, The Dartington Festival Orchestra in residence, The RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and The Opera Touring Company of Ireland.Their work has also taken them on cruises of the Mediterranean and The Baltics.

  

They also enjoy playing pop music and are members of London based groups Tonic Fold and Amphibic.

 

In 2004 the girls were invited to perform with the Divine Comedy at the Haldern Pop Festival in Germany. They have provided the perfect backdrop to many private parties including, a surprise 50th Birthday party at a residence in Primrose Hill and a retirement reception at the National Portrait Gallery, London.

 

In December 2005, the Duo provided the music for the Champagne Reception at one of the first Gay Civil Ceremony Weddings in England. This was the wedding of celebrity couple Gary Cockerill and Philip Turner, the happy event took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London and was attended by many celebities including Katie Price and Peter Andre. It was later featured in OK magazine.
