This Yorkshire based String Quartet was established in 1999 by graduates of the Royal Northern College of Music and the University of Sheffield. The quartet have performed at prestigious venues throughout the country including Chatsworth House; Birmingham Symphony Hall; The Albert Hall and the Bridgwater Hall in Manchester. In 2003 they performed to the Queen and Prince Philip during their royal visit to Sheffield; and also played at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Flower Show, in a specially designed ‘Quartet Garden’.
Since 2002 the quartet have given recitals on a number of cruise ships, taking them to Europe, Canada, America and even the Arctic! The Silver Strings are in regular demand as session musicians and have played on many pop recordings.
They recently recorded on Richard Hawley’s number one selling album ‘Lady’s Bridge’ and previously on Mercury Award Nominated album ‘Cole’s Corner’. Their recordings have been aired on Radio 1 and Radio 2; and the quartet has also appeared on ITV, Channel 4 and Granada Television.
